An Old Chunk of Elm
This painting is inspired by an old chunk of Elm wood that I have had for ages. I wanted to capture the way in which the gnarled and inter-locking grain possessed a myriad of interesting colours and patterns. Low Tide at Baie de Somme, France
I painted this following a week’s holiday in the Baie du Somme staying at St.Valerie du Somme. This view shows part of the large area of the bay that empties at low tide revealing wide stretches of sands, mud and shallow pools. I loved the almost abstract pattern and soft tones. Original painting: Painted in acrylics on canvas using only 4 colours plus white (Pale Umber, Raw Sienna, Cerulean Blue & Paynes Grey). Original 500 x 400 mm (sold) Prints & cards available
Otago Sunset
This semi-abstact painting was inspired by a holiday travelling in New Zealand. I spent a day on the beautiful Otago Penninsular on the South Island and while waiting to see a colony of Blue Penquins come ashore at dusk, I sat and watched the sun setting.
